Off the Court at MIT: Majoring in electrical engineering and computer science with a minor in economics.

Why I Chose MIT: I find that I become the best version of myself when I'm under pressure, and there's really no place like MIT for that. I thought I'd come to Cambridge, grind out a bunch of math and science PSETs for four years with my fellow nerds, and move on to a well-paying job and comfortable life. But my expectations for MIT were completely wrong. There aren't just a bunch of "prodigies" walking around solving math problems on random chalkboards casually talking about "rocketry" and "conceptual physics." I'm surrounded by the most creative and inspiring students in the world—students who are willing to take risks and try new things in the name of finding what they love. And that's made me reevaluate my outlook on learning, on life, and on why I'm at MIT. Playing volleyball was something I knew I wanted to continue doing in college, and it's given me an awesome group of friends and mentors to help ease the transition from high school. I encourage anyone with reservations about applying or matriculating to just give it a shot—I felt the same way, but since being here I've come to realize that there's no other place that can change your life the way MIT can.
