Favorite Sports Memory
  • My favorite memory came from a regatta last spring. We had just lost three races in a row and were frustrated coming into the dock afterwards. But we knew we had to get right back out there so we tried to get ourselves excited and motivated and forget about the previous races. We pushed off the dock ready to put our all into the next race, but there was still some tensions in the air. Suddenly just as we pushed off we all saw our coach running down the dock towards us carrying something in his hand. Soon after spotting him we hear the sound of a bell ringing and we all cheer back as we realize our coach was ringing the good luck bell we had given them to use in important situations. And the timing could not have been more perfect. After the bell rang we did not lose a single race and won the entire regatta, which wound up coming down to the very final race. But our teams ability to fight back to the top was what made me so proud of this regatta as well as the knowledge that our coach knew us well enough to know exactly how to make us motivated for the next race.
Favorite Memory as an MIT Student-Athlete:
  • Last season our team carried a stuffed bunny to every event. For nationals at Stanford I even sacrificed my checked bag to make sure we had Bun Bun with us!
