Jay was born and raised outside of Boston, Massachusetts and received his undergraduate degree from Tufts University in clinical psychology. At Tufts, he played on the men's basketball team and worked in a research lab dedicated to cognitive development. Dieterle is currently in his second year at Boston university where he is pursuing his masters degree in Sports Psychology and Counseling.
