AT MIT

Hannah Woodruff is in her first season as assistant coach with the MIT men’s heavyweight crew team in 2026-27.

BEFORE MIT

Woodruff joined MIT following a three-year stint as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for Radcliffe Heavyweight Crew. She joined Radcliffe in 2023, where she was the coach of the Varsity Four that finished second at the 2026 Ivy League Championships, resulting in the first medal for the Black and White at the competition in nine years. In addition, she coached the 2V8+ that finished 10th at the 2025 NCAA Division I Championship. 

Prior to her time at Radcliffe, Woodruff served as an assistant coach for women’s rowing at Boston University from 2017-2023. She was the coach of the 2V8+ that won the Patriot League Championship in 2022 and 2023. 

OTHER EXPERIENCES

Woodruff’s coaching career began in 2013 as an assistant coach for the Varsity Boys team at Community Rowing, Inc. where the team consistently medaled at the Northeast Regionals and qualified four boats for the 2015 and 2016 Youth Nationals and five in 2014. During the 2016-17 academic year she was an assistant coach for the Varsity Boys at Boston College High School and from 2015-17 Woodruff was an assistant coach at the Cambridge Boat Club. 

She made the move to intercollegiate coaching in 2013 when she returned to her alma mater Wellesley College as an assistant coach. During her four seasons, the Blue won the 2016 NCAA Division III Championship, the 2V8+ placed second in 2015, 2016, and 2017, and the team claimed third place at the 2015 and 2017 NCAA Championships. Woodruff was also a member of the 2016 CRCA Division III Coaching Staff of the Year. 

EDUCATION

Woodruff was a four-year coxswain and a co-captain at Wellesley where she earned All-America Second Team honors and was a two-time National Scholar-Athlete. She graduated cum laude in 2011 with degrees in economics and history.
