Joey Carroll

Joey Carroll joined the men's basketball coaching staff as Assistant Coach prior to the 2025-26, joining new head coach B.J. Dunne for his first season at MIT.

"Joey is a relentless worker and one of the best young recruiters I've been around," said Dunne. "He brings energy, perspective, and a deep understanding of what it takes to build relationships. Our players at MIT will benefit greatly from his knowledge, work ethic, and passion for the game. His diverse background and proven commitment to player development will make an immediate impact on the program."

Carroll brings Division I and Division III levels to Cambridge, following a brief stint over the summer as part of Dunne's staff at Gettysburg College. Though his tenure in Gettysburg was brief, Carroll made an immediate impact as a recruiter, helping expand the program's reach and build strong connections with prospective student-athletes and their families. Most recently, Carroll served as a Graduate Assistant at the University at Buffalo (2023–2025), where he contributed to all facets of the program, including film breakdown, scouting, player development, analytics, and recruiting coordination. He also directed the Bulls' social media presence, helping strengthen the program's visibility and engagement.

Before his time at Buffalo, Carroll served as a Student Assistant Coach at Gettysburg from 2021–2023. During that stretch, the Bullets earned their highest postseason seed since 2011, posted back-to-back winning seasons for the first time since 2016, and notched their best non-conference record in more than a decade. Carroll also gained valuable coaching experience in the grassroots circuit, leading the Jersey Force 16U HGSL team to multiple tournament titles in 2023 while guiding several players toward collegiate opportunities at the Division I, II, and III levels.

A former student-athlete at Gettysburg (2016–2018), Carroll earned his B.A. in Political Science from Gettysburg College (2022) and his M.A. in Education from SUNY Buffalo (2025).
