Meghan O’Connell enters her sixth year as an assistant coach and seventh overall at MIT in 2024-25 after serving as the interim head coach for the 2020-21 season. During her time in Cambridge, the Engineers captured two NEWMAC Championships and made three appearances in the title game.
She joined the MIT women’s basketball program in the summer of 2017 after a successful nine-year stint as the head coach at Wakefield (Mass.) High School. In her final season at Wakefield, her squad was the co-champion of its league for the first time since 1999.
O’Connell played basketball as an undergraduate at Gordon College.
