HOW IT HAPPENED:
- MIT came out firing in the opening two minutes as sophomore AJ Jurko (Weston, Fla.) knocked down a pair of early threes and the Engineers led 8-0. The hosts continued to lead until close to the midway point of the period when Stevan Radosavljevic knocked down a jumper to tie the game at 14-14.
- The Engineers built the lead up to as many as nine at 35-26 with 2:49 remaining before the Gryphons closed the half on a 7-0 run to make it a 35-33 margin at the break.
- In the second period, Jurko dropped in another three to extend the lead to 41-36 as the Engineers led by five with under 12 minutes left. Sarah Lawrence came right back though and with 10:05 on the clock, Malin Segal hit a pair of free throws to give the visitors their first lead at 50-49.
- The teams traded the lead over the next six minutes before the Engineers regained the lead for good on a pair of Tim Butala (Monroe, Conn.) free throws with 3:47 remaining. MIT drained five free throws over the remainder of the game to seal the six-point victory for the Engineers.
