THE BASICS:

- The Lead: Paced by six All-New England performers, the No. 12 ranked MIT men's cross country team placed third out of 54 schools at the NCAA New England Regional Championship with a total of 107 points.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- First-year Sanjay Raman (Seattle, Wash.), the 2019 NEWMAC Rookie of the Year, finished in 10th place with a time of 25:08. Sophomore Andrew Mah (Newton, Mass.), the 2019 NEWMAC Athlete of the Year, was up next in 15th at 25:18 as she was followed by first-year Vedang Lad (Plainsboro, N.J.) in 22nd place with a time of 25:31.5.
- Senior Josh Derrick (Winnetka, Ill.) was the fourth Engineer at 25:36.7 to finish 29th, along with sophomore Matthew Kearney (Austin, Texas) in 31st at 25:40. Sophomore Ryan Wilson (Redwood City, Calif.) was the final All-Region honoree for the Engineers, placing 34th with a time of 25:49.2. Junior Finn Jacobson-Schulte (Lakeville, Minn.) was close behind in 52nd place, crossing in 26:08.8.
UP NEXT:
- MIT will await the announcement of the qualifying teams for the NCAA Division III National Championship, which will take place at Tom Sawyer Park in Louisville, Kentucky on Saturday, November 23rd. That announcement will come at 1 p.m. on Sunday, November 17th at 1 p.m. on www.ncaa.com.
