THE BASICS:
- Location: Cambridge, Mass. (Charles River)
- The Lead: At the CRI Fall Classic on the Charles River, the MIT women's lightweight 8 "A" and 4 "A" boats captured the Open 8+ and Open 4+ races. Overall, the Engineers opened the season by racing two eights and one four.
A LOOK INSIDE THE RACES:
- In the Open 8+ race, the Engineer "A" boat crossed in a time of 19:27.5 to defeat Simmons by a 27-second margin. MIT's "B" crew finished in fourth place with a time of 21:16.4.
- MIT took the Open 4+ race in the early afternoon as the Engineers finished in a time of 20:15.7 and defeated the CRI and Upper Valley crews in the process.
- Today's three boats featured five first-year student-athletes.
