- The Lead: On Saturday afternoon at Blake Arena, the MIT men's basketball team dropped a narrow 66-62 final at No. 20 ranked Springfield College as the Pride swept the regular-season series. The Engineers rallied from as many as 19 points down and got the lead down to just two in the final seconds before the hosts secured the win.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- Springfield came out of the gates firing and staked to a 28-9 lead after 10:39 of play following a jumper by Heath Post. The Engineers quickly settled down and used three-pointers from sophomore Alex Cho (San Diego, Calif.) and first-year Matas Masys (Oakbrook Terrace, Ill.) to spark a 12-0 run to pull MIT within 28-21.

- A Post three-pointer for the Pride briefly put Springfield back up 10 at 37-27 before Cho closed the first-half scoring with a jumper to make it 37-29 at the break.

- The Pride continued to lead by 11 at 47-36 with just under 12 minutes remaining before back-to-back threes by junior Ian Hinkley (Raleigh, N.C.) and Cho fueled a 7-0 spurt to pull MIT closer at 47-43.

- Springfield expanded the lead back to double digits at 62-49 with 2:49 remaining, but MIT had one more run in mind over the final moments. With 1:10 on the clock, sophomore Grant Miller (Park Ridge, Ill.) got the Engineers within four and moments later, another Hinkley three pulled MIT to within two at 64-62. Post hit a pair of free throws with three seconds left though to seal the victory as a Hinkley three was off the mark at the buzzer.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

- Cho led three Engineers in double figures with 20 points to go along with a team-high four assists and no turnovers in 31 minutes. Hinkley registered a 16-point, 10-rebound double-double and Miller nearly joined him with a double-double as he posted 10 points and nine rebounds.

- Post paced Springfield with a 25-point, 18-rebound double-double as Jake Ross added 10 points and eight assists and Trey Witter finished with 14 points in 21 minutes off the bench.

- The Engineers outscored the Pride by a 28-18 margin in the paint, while Springfield converted 10 MIT turnovers into 11 points.
