- The Lead: In a matchup of two of the top four teams in the nation, the No. 4 ranked MIT men's cross country team finished second at the Connecticut College Invitational on Saturday at Harkness Park. The Engineers finished with 43 points to fall by a narrow six-point margin to No. 3 ranked Williams. The other nationally-ranked programs included No. 16 RPI, No. 18 Middlebury, No. 23 Bates, No. 28 Amherst, No. 32 Connecticut College and No. 34 WPI.

- In the 8K Men's White Race, the Engineers posted a perfect score of 15 points as the team swept the top eight spots. Graduate student
Reid Kovacs (Palo Alto, Calif.) charged to the win in a time of 25:31.4 as he was followed by sophomore
Raymond Brookman (Santa Cruz, Calif.) in second at 25:39.5. Senior
Nicholas Medearis (Palo Alto, Calif.) crossed in third in 25:47.5, with All-American junior
Sanjay Raman (Seattle, Wash.) in fourth at 25:48.4 and first-year
Sam Coutts (Pacific Grove, Calif.) rounding out the top five in fifth at 25:50.5.

Jacob Hansen (Bountiful, Utah) placed sixth at 26:00.5 and was in a near dead heat with teammate sophomore
Cameron Kleiman (Austin, Texas) at 26:00.6. First-year
Pablo Arroyo (Richardson, Texas) crossed in eighth at 26:07.2 to finish the MIT sweep of the top eight spots. Sophomore
Nate Sesti (Clarkston, Mich.) finished 14th in a time of 26:31.1, while sophomore
Henry Hardart (Annapolis, Md.) was 19th in 26:48 and first-year
Simon Opsahl (Redlands, Calif.) placed 37th in a time of 27:18.1.

Carlos Villa (Gurnee, Ill.) crossed in 27:41.5 to finish 56th, followed by first-year
Pau Ilberbaig-Bajona (Toronto, Canada) in 89th with a time of 28:16.3 and graduate student
Dylan Doblar (San Jose, Calif.) in 112th place at 29:00.9.

- In the Men's 8K Blue Race, junior
Sam Acquaviva (Newburyport, Mass.) paced the Engineers with a fourth-place showing in 24:47.2 to finish as the top NEWMAC runner at the meet. Junior
Matthew Kearney (Austin, Texas) and senior
Ryan Wilson (Redwood City, Calif.) were right behind him in sixth and seventh place with times of 24:50.5 and 24:53.5, respectively. Senior
Andrew Mah (Newton, Mass.) finished in 12th in a time of 25:03.1 and junior
Vedang Lad (Plainsboro, N.J.) closed out the scoring runners for MIT in 14th in 25:06.9.

- MIT returns to action on Saturday, October 30th as the Engineers will compete at the NEWMAC Championship at Wellesley College. The Engineers enter the meet as the 22-time defending champions and are the only program in league history to ever win the NEWMAC title.
