HOW IT HAPPENED – MATCH ONE vs Bates:
-
Set 1: Bates established a 5-2 lead and maintained a small cushion until a four-point burst gave the Bobcats a 20-15 advantage. Sparked by a kill from junior

Alyssa Unell (Scottsdale, Ariz.) and sophomore
Emily Cheng (Sunnyvale, Calif.) secured the 25-23 come-from-behind win.
-
Set 2: The Engineers gradually built a 12-6 lead following a kill by senior
Hannah Collins (Sunnyvale, Calif.). The small margin held as MIT later used a 6-2 spurt to wrap up the set, 25-17.
-

HOW IT HAPPENED – MATCH TWO vs. Trinity:
-
Set 1: MIT inched out to a 12-8 lead courtesy of a serving error. Trinity stayed close, tying the score four times, the last at 20. The Engineers replied with kills by first-year
Ella Gragg (Morganton, N.C.) and Brattley, which prompted a timeout by the Bantams. Once action resumed, kills by Gragg and Brattley sandwiched a Trinity hitting error, resulting in a 25-20 win.
-
Set 2: Holding a 12-9 lead, an ace by Cheng kicked off a string of four straight points as MIT went on to win the set, 25-15.
-
Set 3: The set was a back-and-forth affair as there were 13 ties and five lead changes. Knotted at 17, the Engineers created some breathing room courtesy of a kill and ace by Cheng along with a kill from Gragg. After a Trinity timeout, an exchange of points ensued as an MIT serving error brought the hosts within 22-20. The Engineers replied with a Margetts kill and back-to-back kills from senior
