HOW IT HAPPENED:

Â
- WPI opened the scoring after 3:21 elapsed in the second quarter.
Emily Sollecito sent a pass up the field to
Abigail Rauch who backhanded a shot just outside the circle. The ball deflected off MIT senior goalie
Juliana Strother (Mequon, Wis.) and then
Anne Davis whipped the rebound into the net.
Â
- MIT registered the equalizer with 37 seconds remaining in the half on its first penalty corner of the game. First-year
Faith Choe (San Diego, Calif.) ripped a shot from the top left of the circle after a pass from senior
Lucy Kitch-Peck (Bethlehem, Pa.), who stick stopped the insert. The goal was the first of Choe's career.
Â
- Following a scoreless third quarter, Radler gave MIT a 2-1 lead in the 48
th minute. After a scrum of bodies formed outside of the goal, Radler took a feed from junior
Paige Forester (Glencoe, Ill.) and quickly wove it through traffic to the back of the cage. MIT gained some breathing room less than two minutes later on another Radler strike that was set up by first-year
Jordan Dattero (East Setauket, N.Y.).
Â
- Junior
Helen Liu (Short Hills, N.J.) capped the scoring and recorded her first intercollegiate marker when she tapped in the rebound of Radler's saved shot with 2:01 left to play.
Â
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
Â
- Strother made two saves for MIT in the first half. First-year
Jordan Tierney (St. Louis, Mo.) did not face any shots on goal as she picked up the win in her first appearance.
Â
- MIT ended the day with advantages in shots (24-6), including a 15-1 margin in the second half. The Engineers also had the upper hand in shots on goal (15-3) and penalty corners (7-2).
