- The Lead: On Saturday morning in Louisville, the No. 2 ranked MIT men's cross country finished as the national runner-up as the Engineers ended up with 112 points to place second out of 32 teams. The Engineers also had a program-record five All-Americans as this marked the top team finish in program history as well. It was also the sixth all-time top-10 finish at the NCAA Championship.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- Running in a tight pack throughout the race, the Engineers continued to move up through the field as the team went back and forth with Pomona-Pitzer. Junior
Sam Acquaviva (Newburyport, Mass.) made the biggest surge for the Engineers as he was the top finisher in 13th place with a time of 24:03. The bulk of the MIT pack was next up as the Engineers took spots No. 27-29 with graduate student
Finn Jacobson-Schulte (Lakeville, Minn.), junior
Matthew Kearney (Austin, Texas) and senior
Ryan Wilson (Redwood City, Calif.). That trio finished with times of 24:16.4, 24:16.6 and 24:16.9, respectively.

Andrew Mah (Newton, Mass.) was the final scoring runner as he crossed in a time of 24:19.6 to finish 33rd overall as the MIT top five all earned All-American accolades for the first time in program history.

Vedang Lad (Plainsboro, N.J.) also posted a top-50 finish as he placed 48th at 24:27.3, while graduate student
Reid Kovacs (Palo Alto, Calif.) finished in 73rd at 24:38.6 in his first nationals meet with the Engineers.
