-Â Records:Â MIT (4-1-0); Roger Williams (1-3-2)
-Â Location:Â Bristol, R.I. (Bayside Field)
-Â The Lead:Â The MIT men's soccer team entered tonight's game against Roger Williams receiving votes in the United Soccer Coaches Poll this week, and they proved why as they went on the road and handed the Hawks a 1-0 defeat on Wednesday night.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The two teams played a tightly contested first half with the defenses limiting each team to just two shots a piece. Loukas Carayannopoulos (Westfield, N.J.) and Jack Snowdon (Lorton, Va.) had the two shots on net for MIT while goaltender Zak Zhang (Bellevue, Wash.) saved both shots he saw in the half.
- In the 65th minute off a corner kick, Hendrik Mayer (Montville, N.J.) broke the scoreless tie as he took a pass from Will Seiple (Boulder, Colo.) and put the shot past RWU goalkeeper into the left corner for his third goal of the season.
- Once again, the Engineer defense held onto the lead as they allowed just one shot on goal in the second half to secure another shutout victory.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- All of the Engineers victories have been shutouts, and in those victories, they have allowed just 12 shots.
- Zhang made three saves in goal to improve his record to 2-0 this season.
