-Â The Lead: The MIT men's soccer team rebounded from allowing a season-high two goals on Saturday by blanking Regis, 3-0 on Monday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The two teams played a scoreless first half before Peter Novoa (Omaha, Neb.) sent a pass from the right side into the box for a waiting Will Seiple (Boulder, Colo.) who put the ball into the back of the net for the first goal of the game at 49:27.
- At 57:14 Novoa made it 2-0 as he collected the ball and got by the Regis defense for the score.
- Regis had a few chances to get back into the match, but the Engineer defense, led by goaltender Paarth Desai (Lawrenceville, Ga.) denied those opportunities.
- A free kick from Richter Brzeski (Los Angeles, Calif.) at 72:58 sealed the win for MIT as his second goal of the season gave the Engineers a 3-0 lead.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
-Â All of MIT's wins this season have been via the shutout.
- This was the first ever meeting between the two teams.
- Desai improves to 2-1-0 this season as the junior made two saves in goal.
- Novoa and Seiple are now tied for the team lead with eight points this season. Both players have three goals and two assists.
