Two First-Half Goals Lead MIT to a 2-1 Win Over Endicott

MIT Improves to 7-2-1

THE BASICS:
- Score: MIT – 2 , Endicott - 1
- Records: MIT (7-2-1); Endicott (2-4-2)
- Location: Cambridge, Mass. (Roberts Field at Steinbrenner Stadium)
- The Lead: Two first half goals helped lead the MIT men's soccer team to a 2-1 victory over Endicott on Wednesday night at Roberts Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- Sophomore Garrett Robinson (Winfield, Ill.) took advantage of an Endicott turnover when he gained control of the ball and fired a shot from the left side into the back of the net at 11:47 to give the Engineers a 1-0 lead.

- In the 29th minute Robinson sent in a beautiful corner kick to the front of the net where senior Garrett Gordon (The Woodlands, Texas) headed it in to put MIT up 2-0.

- The Gulls cut the MIT lead in half at 59:31 when Joe Mepham scored on a penalty kick to make the score 2-1.

- The Engineer defense held firm and did not let Endicott tie the match as MIT secured the 2-1 victory.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- The goal by Gordon was his first of the season.
 
- Robinson now has 11 points this season which ranks second on the squad.
 
- Paarth Desai (Lawrenceville, Ga.) earned the win in net to move to 3-2 on the season as the junior made four saves in the game.

UP NEXT:
- MIT heads out on the road for a pivotal NEWMAC contest against Coast Guard on Saturday, October 2nd at 12 p.m.
