The Lead: On the strength of a balanced attack, the MIT women's volleyball team defeated Suffolk University, 25-9, 25-18, 25-16) on Tuesday night. Sophomore
Allison Brattley (Fleetwood, Pa.) paced the Engineers with a match-high seven kills to go along with three blocks.
HOW IT HAPPENED:

Set 1: Trailing 3-2, a serving error set off a string of five unanswered points for MIT as it cruised to a 25-9 win.

Set 2: After a back-and-forth start, the Engineers used a four-point burst, capped by an ace from junior
Emma Suh (Santa Monica, Calif.), to claim a 10-6 lead. Suffolk chipped away at the deficit, coming within 14-12. A pair of errors along with a Brattley kill gave MIT some breathing room as it pulled away for a 25-18 victory.

Set 3: The Rams inched out to an 8-5 lead, however, a kill by senior
Annie Bryan (Kirkwood, Mo.) sparked a 15-3 run which powered the Engineers to a 25-16 win.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Senior
Julia Caravias (Bloomfield Hills, Mich.) chipped in five kills as sophomore
Emily Cheng (Sunnyvale, Calif.) tallied 29 assists, seven digs, and two aces.
- Junior
Sofie Kupiec (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) collected a team-high eight digs, followed by seven from Suh.
- Junior
Alyssa Unell (Scottsdale, Ariz.) powered MIT with four blocks while sophomore
Ashley Margetts (Brownsburg, Ind.) tacked on six digs.
- This was the third meeting between both programs and the first since 2011. The Engineers have swept the Rams in all three outings.
UP NEXT:
- MIT returns to action on Friday, Sept. 10 when it hosts the two-day MIT Invitational. The Engineers will kick things off with a 6:30 p.m. match against Keene State College.
