THE BASICS:
- Location: Lansing, Mich. (Forest Akers East Golf Course)
- The Lead: At the NCAA Pre-National Meet on Saturday in Michigan, the No. 2 ranked MIT men's cross country team earned the victory as the Engineers finished with 62 points overall to place first out of 36 teams. Overall, the Engineers defeated 10 nationally-ranked squads, including No. 3 UW-La Crosse, No. 5 North Central and No. 8 UW-Whitewater.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Senior
Andrew Mah (Newton, Mass.) was the top MIT finisher in sixth at 24:36.1, followed by senior
Matthew Kearney (Austin, Texas) in ninth at 24:48.8 and senior
Sam Acquaviva (Newburyport, Mass.) in 11th place with a time of 24:50. Senior
Vedang Lad (Plainsboro, N.J.) crossed in 16th place in 25:00.2, while the final scoring runner came through with senior
Lowell Hensgen (Raleigh, N.C.) in 20th place with a time of 25:14.3.
- Junior
Henry Hardart (Annapolis, Md.) finished in 33rd place in a time of 25:27.8, along with junior
Jacob Hansen (Bountiful, Utah) in 45th place at 25:44.5 as all seven Engineers finished in the top 50 overall out of over 300 runners.
UP NEXT:
- MIT returns to action on Saturday, October 15th as the Engineers travel to the Connecticut College Invitational at Harkness Park in Waterford, Conn. The men's race gets underway beginning at 1 p.m.
