- The Lead: For the second straight season and fifth time overall, the No. 2 ranked MIT men's cross country team has captured the NCAA New England Regional Championship with a total of 21 points on Saturday afternoon. The Engineers earn an automatic berth to next weekend's NCAA Division III National Championship
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- MIT had six of the top-10 finishers and captured the event with a 51-point margin over Bates College. In addition, all seven Engineer runners earned USTFCCCA All-Region honors.
- Senior
Andrew Mah (Newton, Mass.) led an MIT sweep of the 2-5 places as he finished second in a time of 25:25.6. Senior
Sam Acquaviva (Newburyport, Mass.) was third in an identical time, followed by senior
Matthew Kearney (Austin, Texas) in fourth place in 25:26.6. Senior
Lowell Hensgen (Raleigh, N.C.) crossed in fifth place with a time of 25:30.5 and sophomore
Pablo Arroyo (Richardson, Texas) was the final scoring runner for the Engineers in seventh place at 25:33.9.
- Junior
Henry Hardart (Annapolis, Md.) finished eighth at 25:34.2 and he was followed in 25th place by junior
Jacob Hansen (Bountiful, Utah) as he crossed in a time of 26:20.2.
UP NEXT:
- MIT wraps up the season on Saturday, November 19th as the Engineers travel to Lansing, Michigan for the 2022 NCAA Division III National Championship. The men's race begins at Noon at the Forest Akers East Golf Course.
