- The Lead: On Saturday afternoon, the MIT men's basketball team dropped an 89-78 road final to Wheaton College as the Lyons secured the split of the NEWMAC regular-season series with the Engineers.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- In the first half, Wheaton jumped out to a 35-26 lead with 7:56 on the clock after a three from
Evan Cook, but the Engineers answered and put up two free throws from senior
Ian Hinkley (Raleigh, N.C.) and back-to-back triples from senior
Julian Manyika (San Francisco, Calif.) to get back within 37-36. The Lyons eventually took the evenly-played first half into the break with a 40-38 edge.

- The Engineers tied it up at 56-56 on a three from Hinkley with 12:56 remaining before Wheaton answered with a 14-3 run that was capped by a three from
Khaled Thaher to lead 70-59. MIT did answer though and pulled to within two at 77-75 with 3:10 on the clock before the hosts clamped down to secure the victory.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

- Overall, Manyika led the Engineers with 21 points on 7-for-14 shooting from three, along with 18 points from Hinkley and 16 points and eight boards by senior
Dan Pilsbury (Millington, N.J.).

Alex Carlisle was the top scorer for Wheaton and the game at 28 points, with 14 each from Cook and
Marckenley Lima and 11 from
Aaron Williams.
