Men's Volleyball Earns Third Straight Win With 3-0 Shutout of Bard

THE BASICS:
 
- Score: MIT 3, Bard College 0

- Location: Annandale-on-Hudson, N.Y. (Stevenson Gymnasium)
 
- The Lead: In a road UVC matchup on Friday night, the MIT men's volleyball team ran its winning streak to three straight with a 3-0 shutout victory over Bard College. The Engineers captured the match with set scores of 25-21, 25-19 and 25-14.   
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
 
- In the three-set victory, the Engineers picked up hard-fought wins in the first and second sets before getting off to a quick and decisive start in the third set, en route to the 11-point victory in the third to secure the team's sixth shutout win of the season.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
 
- First-year Grant Oh (Irvine, Calif.) led the Engineers with 16 kills as he hit .636 for the match. Juniors Brett Allen (San Jose, Calif.) and Jack Yurkanin (New Lenox, Ill.) each added seven kills and sophomore Max Turner (Chandler, Ariz.) had a team-best 14 assists. Senior Tommy Ogeka (Manorville, N.Y.) was the team leader in digs at seven as the Engineers hit .395 for the match.
 
- For Bard, Ty McGlynn posted 12 kills to go along with 10 from Angel Obergh. MIT limited the Raptors to a hitting percentage of just .217 that included .182 in the second set and .000 in the third.
 
- The Engineers hit .395 as a team and finished with 25 digs in the match and had 42 assists spread across seven players as junior Seth Fine (Allentown, Pa.) and first-year Robin Liu (Fremont, Calif.) each also picked up nine assists.

- The Engineers return to action on Saturday, February 19th as the team travels to New Paltz for a UVC match beginning at 1 p.m. Both MIT and New Paltz are receiving votes in the latest NVA/AVCA Men's Division III Coaches Poll.
