THE BASICS:

- The Lead: On Saturday afternoon, the No. 8 ranked MIT men's indoor track and field team competed at the Tufts Final Qualifier Meet.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
 
- The MIT 4x400 relay team of first-year Ian Koe (San Mateo, Calif.), graduate student Benton Wilson (Dublin, Ohio), first-year Pau Ilerbaig-Bajona (Toronto, Canada) and senior Ryan Wilson (Redwood City, Calif.) captured the event in a time of 3:20.50 to defeat Colby by over seven seconds.
 
- Senior Nathan Basinger (Dalton, Ohio) led three Engineers in the shot put with a runner-up showing and a throw of 51 feet, 3.5 inches. First-year Sam Engebretson (Sioux Falls, S.D.) was third at 50 feet, 11.5 inches, along with senior William Woltmann (Secaucus, N.J.) in eighth with a toss of 47 feet, 4.5 inches. Basinger was also third in the weight throw with a distance of 55 feet, 8.25 inches.
 
- In the 200 meters, Benton Wilson finished second as he crossed in 22.13 seconds. Junior Jeremiah Budiman (Plano, Texas) placed 11th in the 60 meters at 7.30 seconds, along with senior Matt Schofield (Shorewood, Ill.) in fifth in the 400 with a time of 52.33 seconds. Senior Nicholas Medearis (Palo Alto, Calif.) also finished ninth in the 3,000 meters as he ran a time of 8:46.75.
 
- Senior Max Hardy (Houston, Texas) led the Engineers in the pole vault as he tied for fourth at 14 feet, 7.5 inches. First-year Luka Srsic (Worthington, Ohio) cleared the same height and finished sixth, followed by junior Bryan Sperry (San Diego, Calif.) in seventh at 13 feet, 7.75 inches.
