The Lead: The MIT women's softball team lost both its games on day two of the NFCA Classic. The Engineers lost to Emory in game one and fell to No. 18 Belhaven in their second game of the afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED – Game One vs. Emory
- A three-run third put Emory in the lead but the Engineers got to within two in the top of the fifth with an RBI from first-year
Kennedy Adkison (San Jose, Calif.) that plated senior
Claire Wichman (Omaha, Neb.).
Â
- Wichman notched an RBI in the sixth to plate first-year
Mackenzie Bivin (San Diego, Calif.) and cut the Emory lead to one run. The Eagles responded in the bottom of the frame with a run to make it a 4-2 ballgame as they held the Engineers scoreless in the seventh to seal the victory.
Â
HOW IT HAPPENED – Game Two vs. Belhaven
- Belhaven had the game in control throughout scoring early and often while holding the Engineers scoreless until the sixth when Adkison and junior
Jordan Sell (Schwenksville, Pa.) each plated a run with two outs but that's all MIT would get as Belhaven got the final out to secure the win.
UP NEXT:
