Men's Tennis Sweeps Emerson, 9-0

- The Lead: The MIT men's tennis team cruised to a 9-0 win over visiting Emerson on Wednesday afternoon on the duPont Tennis courts in NEWMAC play.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
 
- MIT won in No. 1 and No. 2 doubles with junior Benji Grossman (Sands Point, N.Y.) and sophomore Joseph Li (Naperville, Ill.) winning 8-3 and first-year Benjamin Ebanks (New York City, N.Y.) and sophomore Joshua Masuda (Palos Verdes Estates, Calif.) claiming an 8-2 victory. The Engineers won by default in three doubles.
 
- Sophomore Sundeep Chakladar (Redondo Beach, Calif.) and first-year Wayne Nelms (Baltimore, Md.) grabbed 6-0, 6-0 wins in No. 3 and No. 4 singles while in No. 1 singles first-year Ryan Xiao (Cary, N.C.) grabbed a 6-2, 6-2 win and sophomore Daniel Sharygin (Newburgh, Ind.) took No. 2 singles by a 6-0, 6-2 score.
 
- MIT won five and six singles by default.
 
UP NEXT:

- The Engineers will return to the court tomorrow for a non-conference match against No. 3 Tufts. The match will begin at 3:30 p.m.
