Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Junior
Jordan Sell (Schwenksville, Pa.) reached on a fielding error with one out in the third and advanced to third on a bunt single from first-year
Kennedy Adkison (San Jose, Calif.). Sell then came around to score on a sacrifice fly by senior
Anya Chase (Wells, Maine) for the first MIT run of the day.
Â
- The Yellow Jackets tied it in the top of the fourth with a lead-off home run from
Rilee Baughan, but Chase retired the next three to keep the game tied.
Â
- Macon took the lead with a three-run fifth and added another run in the sixth to take a 5-1 lead. MIT got one back as first-year
Mackenzie Bivin (San Diego, Calif.) tripled to left and came around to score on a groundout from first-year
Mikayla Cable (Valrico, Calif.)
Â
- RMC extended their lead even more in the seventh with a three-run homer to left from
Kayla Davis to take an 8-2 lead.
Â
- The Engineers loaded the bases with no outs in the bottom of the seventh. Senior
Claire Wichman (Omaha, Neb.) led off with a single, and first-year
Dana Bell (Bensalem, Pa.) reached on a fielding error to put runners on first and second. First-year
Katia Pendowski (Elk Grove Village, Ill.) followed with a single to load the bases for MIT. Wichman scored on a sacrifice fly from first-year
Kennedy Adkison (San Jose, Calif.) to make it an 8-3 game, but that was the Engineers' rally would fall short.
