Â
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The first half was played in the UMass defensive zone with the MIT offense controlling the ball throughout the first 45 minutes of action. MIT put up nine shots in the half but could not get one past
Qasim El-Ashkar.
Â
- The Engineers continued to look for the first goal of the game, and that came at 75:05 as senior
Will Seiple (Boulder, Colo.) sent a cross-field pass to a streaking Robinson who headed the ball into the back of the net to break the scoreless tie.
Â
- Late in the game, the Beacons had an excellent scoring opportunity on a breakaway, but junior
Lukas Hanson-Puffer (London, England) stepped out of the goal and applied pressure to force the shot off the mark, and MIT held on for the 1-0 win.
Â
