HOW IT HAPPENED:

- Just 44 seconds into the game, senior Erica Radler (Wayne, N.J.) corralled the rebound of her saved shot and set up first-year Bailey McIntyre (Concord, Mass.) for the goal. Following four shots (three on goal) and a trio of penalty corners, the Engineers increased their lead when senior Paige Forester (Glencoe, Ill.) connected on a feed from sophomore Jordan Dattero (East Setauket, N.Y.) in the ninth minute.

- Smith cut its deficit in half when it found the back of the net in the 25th minute.

- Despite being down a player, senior Liberty Ladd (Falmouth, Maine) scored in the 37th minute to give MIT a 3-1 lead.

- The Pioneers scored off a penalty corner after five minutes elapsed in the fourth quarter. The Engineers replied with an insurance goal from sophomore Eva Oppenheim (Larkspur, Calif.) in the 53rd minute. MIT controlled the action down the stretch as it generated three penalty corners and three shots on goal.
