The Lead: The No. 20 MIT women's volleyball team did not drop a set as it defeated NEWMAC foe WPI (25-19, 25-17, 25-18) and Bridgewater State University (25-17, 25-11, 25-9) on Saturday. The victories resulted in the Engineers' 30
th consecutive 20-win season.

HOW IT HAPPENED – MATCH ONE vs. WPI:

Set 1: Tied at seven, a WPI serving error sparked a 10-2 run that was capped by an ace from senior
Emily Cheng (Sunnyvale, Calif.). MIT maintained its comfortable cushion as a ball-handling error gave it set point at 24-14. WPI capitalized on back-to-back kills and a trio of MIT miscues to stay alive. However, the comeback attempt was thwarted courtesy of a kill by Cheng.

Set 2: WPI inched out to a 9-6 lead, however, a block by junior
Ella Gragg (Morganton, N.C.) ignited an 18-5 run. WPI used two MIT errors and a kill to extend the frame, but a kill by junior
Lauren Keller (Albuquerque, N.M.) secured the 25-17 win.

Set 3: MIT put together a 13-4 run as three straight kills by sophomore
Claire Underwood (Yorba Linda, Calif.) created a 16-7 advantage. The visitors maintained their lead down the stretch as a kill by sophomore
Ali Gibbs (Chagrin Falls, Ohio) clinched the 25-18 victory.

- Underwood led all players with 14 kills and added two blocks as senior
Consecrata Rozario (Cary, N.C.) and Keller both contributed seven kills. Cheng registered 25 assists and four aces while junior
Ottavia Personeni (Bethesda, Md.) tallied 11 digs, eight assists, and two aces. Gragg collected a team-high 12 digs as sophomore
Daphne Gavros (Bel Tiburon, Calif.) added 10 of her own.

Set 1: MIT slowly built a 12-5 lead which grew to 19-9 after an ace by Gavros. Despite the deficit, Bridgewater State continued to attack as a hitting error brought it within 22-16. A serving error by the Bears and a kill by first year
Emma Hickman (Houston, Texas) resulted in set point. BSU capitalized on a hitting error, but the Engineers responded with a kill by first year
Eileen Sadati (San Juan Capistrano, Calif.) to secure the 25-17 win.

Set 2: Knotted at four, a block by first years
Peyton Brown (Parker, Colo.) and
Elise Echarte (Miami Beach, Fla.) sparked a 19-5 run. The Bears picked up the next two points, however, a hitting error and a kill by Echarte clinched the 25-11 victory.

Set 3: Tied at two, a kill by Echarte, an ace from first year
Lexi Foland (Pensacola, Fla.), and a BSU setting error created some breathing room as MIT went on to capture a 25-9 win.

- Sadati powered the Engineers with a match-high nine kills while Echarte produced eight kills, a .667 hitting percentage, and five blocks. Brown compiled seven kills, seven digs, and four blocks as first year
Kayleigh May (Camarillo, Calif.) generated 25 assists and seven digs. Gavros totaled 11 digs and five aces while sophomore
Paige Edwards (Cape Girardeau, Mo.) notched eight digs and three aces.

- This was the first meeting between both programs since 2011. MIT's all-time record is now 25-1 versus the Bears.
