- The Lead: The MIT men's soccer team used two first-half goals to secure a shutout win over visiting Springfield on Saturday night on Roberts Field. The Engineers have won their last three games and earned shutout wins in two matches.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- First year Dilin Meloni (Needham, Mass.) scored his first collegiate goal at 9:19 when he received a pass from sophomore Kaleb Asfaw (San Jose, Calif.) in traffic and fired a shot into the back of the net from 20-yards out.

- Senior Garrett Robinson (Winfield, Ill.) made it a 2-0 lead when he took the pass from first year Nico Mangiafico (Farmington, Conn.) and streaked down the field and put a shot into the far corner of the goal at 32:32.

- Springfield had two early scoring chances in the second half, but a shot by Carter Gibson was saved by first year Hernando Ardila (Miramar, Fla.) and a Maitoe Suppasuesangu shot was blocked by the MIT defense.

- The Pride looked to tie the game in the final minutes, but the Brandon Trent shot went wide, and MIT took the 2-0 win.
