The Lead: Playing until the late hours of Friday night, the match between the Engineers proved to be a good one with the No. 30 MIT Engineers hanging on to deliver the No. 22 RPI Engineers their first loss of the year as MIT held on for a thrilling 5-4 win.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- MIT took a 2-1 lead after doubles with 8-6 wins in both two and three doubles with victories from sophomore
Wayne Nelms (Baltimore, Md.) and junior
Sundeep Chakladar (Redondo Beach, Calif.) at No. 2, and senior
Daniel Papacica (Carmel, Calif.) and junior
Joseph Li (Naperville, Ill.) in three doubles.

Kailas Kahler (Pawtucket, R.I.) took a 6-4, 6-4 win in two singles and sophomore
Ryan Xiao (Cary, N.C.) battled to a three-set win in the fourth position after dropping the first set.
- With a win in the fifth position, RPI tied the match at four with the decisive match between senior
Benji Grossman (Sands Point, N.Y.) and Tasmay Shah going the distance in the third set. After dropping the first set, 5-7, Grossman rallied to win the next two sets and give MIT the thrilling win.

- The Engineers are right back on the courts in the J.B. Carr Tennis Bubble tomorrow for a doubleheader beginning with a 3 p.m. match against Vassar followed by a match against Nichols scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
