The Lead: It was a very successful weekend on the water for the MIT sailing team as the Engineers won the inaugural Franny Charles Trophy and took home third in the Wood Team Race.

- The Engineers posted an 8-7 record during the two-day regatta. They opened the day with a 6-3 record in round one to advance to the top four where they went 1-2 in round one and 1-2 in round two. The top four was comprised of MIT, Harvard, and Brown.
 
- Sophomore Julius Heitkoetter (Austin, Texas), sophomore Brooke Schmelz (Monmouth Beach, N.J.), junior Sam Bruce (Severna Park, Md.), and junior Maks Groom (Seattle, Wash.) handled the skipper duties while senior Abby VanLonkhuyzen (Yarmouth, Maine), junior Jemma Schroder (Menlo Park, Calif.), sophomore Mercedes Escandon (Brick, N.J.), graduate student Maaya Prasad (Yorktown, Va.), sophomore Nicholas Abate (Kemah, Texas), and senior Wendy Wu (Andover, Mass.) skippered the Engineers.

- MIT went 8-1 on Saturday against Brown, Northeastern and Tufts. The team went 3-1 in round one, falling to the Bears, but went a perfect 3-0 in rounds two and three.
 
- Senior Emily Scherer (Oshkosh, Wis.), Schmelz, and sophomore Lucy Brock (Austin, Texas) skippered the boat for MIT while sophomore Yitan Zhu (Katy, Texas), sophomore Shayne Bersin (Port Washington, N.Y.), sophomore Samantha Karlson (Groton, Conn.), Escandon and senior Grace Mao (Overland Park, Kan.) made up the crew.
