Pinto and Ulmer Named NEISA Open Sailors of the Week

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Robert Ulmer and Ellie Pinto of the MIT sailing team have been named the NEISA Open Sailors of the Week for the Weekend of October 10-11 as the pair steered the A Division team to a win at the Open Atlantic Coast Championships Round 1B.

Pinto and Ulmer started slow on Saturday, but ended the day with a four-point set, as they climbed further on Sunday during tricky, rainy and light conditions, scoring two first place finishes out of the four races sailed. They took over the A Division lead in the second to last race of the regatta. They claimed the A division title and, coupled with a 6th place B division finish, locked MIT in at a 3rd place overall finish to qualify for next weekend's AAC Championship.
