The Lead: MIT outscored UMass Boston, 16-3, in the first half before going on to capture a 21-10 victory in non-conference men's lacrosse action on Thursday night. Graduate student
Ryan Gebhardt (Baldwinsville, N.Y.) produced seven goals and three assists, resulting in him recording his 100
th goal with the Engineers and the 400
th point of his career.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- MIT rattled off six unanswered goals before establishing a 9-1 lead at the end of the quarter. First year
Oscar Lindenthal (Vero Beach, Calif.) connected on a pass from sophomore
Heath Nilsen (Carlsbad, Calif.) after 1:46 elapsed. Gebhardt recorded three of the Engineers' next four goals, but UMass Boston ended the shutout with 5:54 left in the quarter. Quick strikes by first year
Zach Bleil (New Canaan, Conn.) and sophomore
Dylan Nelson (Sleepy Hollow, N.Y.) increased MIT's cushion while Nilsen redirected a feed from Lindenthal for the final goal of the frame.

- The Engineers continued to cruise in the second quarter as their advantage grew to 16-3. Junior
Bennett Stankovits (Rumson, N.J.) scored the first two goals with Gebhardt earning an assist. A solo effort by first year
Braedon Rudolph (Denver, Colo.) moved the score to 12-1 at the 8:58 mark. The Beacons ended their scoring drought 26 seconds later, but Gebhardt buried a man-up goal, resulting in the 100
th goal of his MIT career. Junior
Jack McCordic (Medfield, Mass.) added another man-up goal which was followed by an unassisted strike by Nilsen. UMass Boston found the back of the net with 2:37 remaining, however, Gebhardt buried an extra-man goal for the 400
th point of his career.

- The Beacons opened the third quarter with three straight goals as they went on to outscore the Engineers, 7-3, and make the score 19-10 at the end of the frame. Gebhardt scored a man-down goal on a pass from sophomore
Patrick Timons (Woodside, Calif.) midway through the period and after a UMass Boston man-up goal, senior
Tory Lentine (Flemington, N.J.) found McCordic with 5:53 on the clock. Over a minute later, Stankovits redirected a pass from Gebhardt. The Beacons closed out the quarter with three goals in a row.

- Strikes by Nelson and Nilsen early in the fourth quarter gave the visitors a 21-10 advantage. UMass Boston, however, recorded the final three goals of the game.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

- Nilsen finished with four goals and one assist as Stankovits recorded a hat trick. Lindenthal contributed one goal and two assists while sophomore
Matthew Sardis (Bernardsville, N.J.) was 12-of-26 in faceoffs. Senior
Chris Perrino (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) and Sardis both collected five groundballs as Bleil posted two caused turnovers. In net, senior
Devin McCabe (New Castle, N.H.) made nine saves.

- With 403 career points, Gebhardt currently ranks fifth in Division III and seventh across all NCAA divisions. At MIT, he's tied for sixth all-time in career goals (102) and ranks 14
th in career points (131). Last season, Gebhardt set the NCAA career goals record across all divisions with 300 goals.
