The Lead: The MIT sailing team grabbed two third place finishes over the weekend as the team competed in both the Southern New England Team Race and the Ivan Geiger Team Race over the Weekend.

IVAN GEIGER TEAM RACE | Cambridge, Mass. | 3rd of 8
 
- The Engineers posted a 10-7 record in the in-conference race over the weekend.
 
- MIT went 5-2 in round one followed by a 3-4 record in the second round. The Engineers then posted a 2-1 record against the Top Four, defeating both Boston College and Roger Williams with the lone loss coming to Harvard.
 
- Senior Emily Scherer (Oshkosh, Wis,), graduate student Dana Haig (Beach Haven, N.J.), sophomore Brooke Schmelz (Monmouth Beach, N.J.) and sophomore Lucy Brock (Austin, Texas) handled the skipper duties during the regatta while sophomore Shayne Bersin (Port Washington, N.Y.), sophomore Yitan Zhu (Katy, Texas), sophomore Samantha Karlson (Groton, Conn.), sophomore Mercedes Escandon (Brick, N.J.) and senior Grace Mao (Overland Park, Kan.) made up the crew.

SOUTHERN NEW ENGLAND TEAM RACE | New London, Conn. | 3rd of 10
 
- The Engineers went 8-6 in the race for the third-place finish. The team opened the day in round one with a 6-3 record and went 2-3 in round three.
 
- Sophomore Julius Heitkoetter (Austin, Texas), junior Maks Groom (Seattle, Wash.) and junior Sam Bruce (Severna Park, Md.) skippered the boat and senior Abby VanLonkhuyzen (Yarmouth, Maine), junior Jemma Schroder (Menlo Park, Calif.), senior Wendy Wu (Andover, Mass.), graduate student Maaya Prasad (Yorktown, Va.) and sophomore Nicholas Abate (Kemah, Texas) made up the crew,

- The Engineers will be busy next weekend, March 25-26, with three regattas on the schedule MIT is scheduled to compete at the Friis Trophy, the Team Race Invite at Harvard, and the Duplin Women's Team Race.
