HOW IT HAPPENED:

- Bates struck first with a pair of runs in the opening frame as Brandon Biggane and Tyler Attal drove in the runs on a pair of sacrifice flies. MIT equaled the score in the bottom of the first when junior Teddy Schoenfeld (Boulder, Colo.) launched a two-run homer to left for his second of the year to knot the game at 2-2.

- The Bobcats put up a four-run third inning as Biggane homered to left for a three-run shot, followed by a solo homer by Attal in the next at-bat to take a 6-2 lead. MIT exploded for a seven-run fourth inning as seniors Jake Sonandres (Torrance, Calif.) and Kyle Sonandres (Torrance, Calif.) drove in a combined six runs for the 8-6 lead with two outs. Jake launched a three-run homer to left, while Kyle doubled down the right field line to clear the bases. The final run of the inning came on a fielding error as Kyle Sonandres scored to make it 9-6.

- The Engineers took advantage of two Bates errors to score two more in the sixth, followed by a four-run seventh as senior Graham Cartwright (La Jolla, Calif.) homered for the third time in two games to make it a 15-6 game. The Bobcats scored three in the top of the eighth as MIT secured the 15-9 final margin.
