THE BASICS:
 
- Location: Cambridge, Mass. (Charles River)
 
- The Lead: On Saturday morning, the MIT women's openweight crew team opened the 2023 spring racing season as the Engineers took on Boston University, Coast Guard and Army on the Charles River.
 
A LOOK INSIDE THE RACES:
 
- In the first race of the day vs. Boston University, the Engineers finished fourth in the Varsity 4 competition with a time of 8:26.9. MIT was second in the 2V8 in 7:15.3, along with second in the V8 boat as the Engineers were 4.5 seconds back of the Terriers in a time of 7:26.6.
 
 - In the final two races of the day vs. Coast Guard and Army, both the MIT V8 and 2V8 picked up victories over the Bears and the Black Knights. The Engineers took first in the V8 with a time of 7:37 to cross the line with a 15.2-second margin of victory over Coast Guard. MIT also took the 2V8 competition in a time of 6:56.2 to defeat Army by 41.3 seconds.
