LEWISTON, Maine – The MIT women's openweight crew program earned victories in the first varsity eight and varsity fours against Bates College on Saturday morning on Bates' home Androscoggin River. Conditions during racing were sunny with a slight headwind and head current on flat water. 

VARSITY 8 (V8+):

• Results: 1st of 2 (6:50.7)
• Lineup: C. Michelle Peng; 8. Kayla Robertson; 7. Lucy Greenup; 6. Emma Hopkins; 5. Brooke Birdsall; 4. Shriya Thakur; 3. Madeleine Laws; 2. Lana Ghamra; 1. Elizabeth Jackson
• MIT pulled away to win by about five seconds in the matchup of the top two crews from each program.

SECOND VARSITY 8 (2V8+):

• Results: 2nd of 3 (7:15.7)
• Lineup: C. Kayla Liu; 8. Lia Donley; 7. Sofia Chastain; 6. Ainsley Buice; 5. Emma Cox; 4. Kristen DiConza; 3. Elizabeth Wright; 2. Nina Navabi; 1. Angela Dong 
• Bates got the upper hand in the second eights, finishing in 7:10.5 to earn a near-five second victory over MIT.

VARSITY 4 (V4+): 

• Results: 1st of 3 (8:10.5) 
• Lineup: C. Madeline Ryan; 4. Lucia Ayala; 3. Michelle Sotelo; 2. Zoe Awa; 1. Ava Illingworth 
• MIT was the best crew in the fours by a near 12-second margin. The Engineers pulled away early and cruised to victory.
