HOW IT HAPPENED
Â
- Â The hosts took an early 2-0 lead on a single from
Marcie Silberman in the bottom of the first.
Â
- MIT took the lead in the top of the third on a bases-clearing triple from sophomore
Mackenzie Bivin (San Diego, Calif.).
Â
- Another triple, this one from first year
Ava Ladd (Austin, Texas) in the fourth plated sophomore
Kristen Lee (Freehold, N.J.) to put MIT up 4-2.
Â
- The Greyhounds put runners on the corners with two outs in the bottom of the fifth, but first year
Caroline Langmeyer (Upper Arlington, Ohio) got Silberman to strikeout swinging to end the frame.
Â
- In the bottom of the sixth, Moravian tied the game on back-to-back doubles from
Sage Snyder and
Mya Zettlemoyer. After a single advanced Zettlemoyer to third, she stole home for the go-ahead run.
Â
- Sophomore
Kennedy Adkison (San Jose, Calif.) doubled, and senior
Jordan Sell (Schwenksville, Pa.) walked to put two runners on with one out in the seventh. Junior
Mackenzie Relihan (Naperville, Ill.) then hit a pinch-hit single to plate Adkison and tie the game. A Bivin groundout plated Sell, and first year
Kara Hines (Cynthiana, Ky.) earned a pinch-hit RBI single to make it a 7-5 MIT lead. Langmeyer got the Greyhounds out in order in the bottom of the inning to secure the win.
