- The Lead: Led by a runner-up finish in the Petite Final by the Varsity 4 boat, the MIT women's openweight crew team competed at the Knecht Cup on Saturday and Sunday on the Cooper River.

A LOOK INSIDE THE RACES:

- In the Varsity 4 race on Saturday, the Engineers finished in fifth out of six teams in a time of 8:26.48 and advanced to Sunday's Petite Final. In that race, the Engineers got off to a slow start but proceeded to pass everyone besides the University of Delaware, en route to the runner-up finish and a time of 8:23.49.

- The Varsity 8 races for lanes in the semis saw MIT placed second of six boats in a time of 6:56.96. The Engineers followed that with a semifinal time of 6:44.10 to advance to the Grand Final on Sunday, where they crossed in fourth in front of the Radcliffe lightweights by a 5.34-second margin and Fordham. The Engineers were a little off the field at the start, but clawed their way back and made a run at the Boston University lightweights before finishing in fourth in the very competitive field.

- In the 2V8 on Saturday, the Engineers were first of four with a time of 7:13.72 and advanced to Sunday's Grand Final. In that race, the team finished just behind Fordham in fifth with a time of 7:03.52 as the Engineers overcame the first 500 meters and settled into a rhythm holding onto the lead pack before eventually crossing in fifth.
