Derek Shen (Chestnut Hill, Mass.) and junior
Joseph Li (Naperville, Ill.) dropped a tough 8-6 match in three doubles, as the Jumbos took a 3-0 lead into singles action.

- In No. 2 singles, senior
Daniel Papacica (Carmel, Calif.) came away with a 7-6, 6-1 win over
Alex Gancheu, and classmate
Benji Grossman (Sands Point, N.Y.) defeated
Josh Belandres 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 in No. 5 singles.

- Shen dropped a hard-fought three-set match in three singles as he fell to
Derin Acaroglu 7-5, 2-6, 13-11.
