HOW IT HAPPENED

- Set 1: After a kill from Ian Pacheco tied the set at seven, MIT went on a 7-4 run punctuated by a kill from senior Troy Oliveira (San Diego, Calif.) to take a 14-11 lead. The Engineers held onto the lead for the remainder of the set as back-to-back kills from senior Nick Gustafson (San Diego, Calif.) gave MIT the 25-19 set win.

- Set 2: A kill from sophomore Grant Oh (Irvine, Calif.) gave the Engineers a 14-9 lead, and jump-started a 6-4 run to put MIT up 20-13. Sophomore Ben Sheres (San Diego, Calif.) made it a 23-16 set, and Gustafson once again recorded the 25th point with a kill to give MIT set two by a 25-16 score.

- Set 3:  The Lions held the lead early in the third set before a kill from Sheres tied the set at seven. Back-to-back attacking errors by the visitors gave MIT an 11-9, but a kill from Delfy Soler got the visitors even at 14. Gustafson then gave the hosts the lead with a kill, and MIT went on to take an 18-14 lead. Eastern Nazarene got to within two at 19-17, but MIT held on as a kill from first year Ben Volokh (Studio City, Calif.) sealed the 25-19 win.
