- Emerson could not get much going offensively against MIT starter Caroline Langmeyer (Upper Arlington, Ohio) as the Lions put five runners on base during the game.

HOW IT HAPPENED vs. GAME TWO:

- Senior Jordan Sell (Schwenksville, Pa.) gave the Engineers a 1-0 lead in the first with her homer to center.

- A four-run third gave MIT a 5-0 lead. Cable hit a two-run homer while Bivin and Adkison knocked in runs in the frame. The hosts got one run back in the bottom of the inning to cut the MIT lead to four.

- The Engineers used a five-run fifth to pull ahead 10-1. Bivin recorded her second RBI of the game while Cable and senior Haley Samuelsen (Houston, Texas) each knocked in two runs in the inning.

- Emerson began to chip away at the MIT lead with three runs in the fifth. MIT got a run back in the sixth on a Cable RBI, but the Lions scored two more runs in the bottom of the sixth to make it an 11-6 game.

- RBI from Sell and first year Kara Hines (Cynthiana, Ky.) gave the Engineers a 13-6 lead as Emerson came up for its final at-bats. The Lions got a lead-off single, but graduate student Deb Torres (Portage, Mich.) retired the next three batters to secure the win for MIT.
