- The Lead: The MIT softball team outscored Clark 17-3 in a doubleheader sweep on Saturday afternoon on Briggs Field. The Engineers remain perfect in NEWMAC action and extended their winning streak to 15 games, just five short of the program record for consecutive wins.

HOW IT HAPPENED vs. GAME ONE:

- A double by sophomore
Mackenzie Bivin (San Diego, Calif.) and an RBI groundout from first year
Kara Hines (Cynthiana, Ky.) put MIT up 2-0 after one.
Â
- Hines added two more RBI in a five-run third inning for the Engineers. Bivin and Hines each knocked in another run in the fourth to give MIT a 9-0 lead.

- Clark loaded the bases and got a run across the plate in the fifth, but first year
Caroline Langmeyer (Upper Arlington, Ohio) got out of the jam to give the Engineers the 9-1 win.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:

- Â Langmeyer moved to 9-0 with 4.2 innings of work. She scattered four hits and one walk and struck out five.

- Hines led the way with four RBI in the game.

- Bivin, senior
Jordan Sell (Schwenksville, Pa.) and junior
Mackenzie Relihan (Naperville, Ill.) each had two hits in the contest.

HOW IT HAPPENED vs. GAME TWO:

- Bivin tripled home the first MIT run of the day and scored on a double to center by junior
Katia Pendowski (Elk Grove Village, Ill.). Pendowski scored the third run of the inning on a single by first year
Olivia Scarpaci (Staten Island, N.Y.).

- The Cougars got a run in the third on an RBI single, but Pendowksi got the run right back for MIT with a double to score sophomore
Mikayla Cable (Valrico, Fla.).

- Clark added a run in the fourth but MIT scored four unanswered runs and went on to take the 8-2 win.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:

- Pendowski finished the day 3-4 with three RBI. Scarpaci also recorded three hits on the afternoon.

- In the circle sophomore
Becca O'Connor (San Antonio, Texas) went all seven innings for her sixth win of the season. She allowed two runs on five hits with two walks and four strikeouts.
