HOW IT HAPPENED:

-  MIT loaded the bases in the second with one out, but the Sharks got out of the jam without allowing a run.

- Sophomore Becca O'Connor (San Antonio, Texas) gave up two singles in the first but did not allow another baserunner until a single in the fifth inning.

- Sophomore Mikayla Cable (Valrico, Fla.) got MIT on the board in the fourth with an RBI double to left to plate classmate Mackenzie Bivin (San Diego, Calif.). Junior Rylie Spiegel (Rumson, N.J.) then plated classmate Katia Pendowski (Elk Grove Village, Ill.) to give the Engineers a 2-0 lead.

- MIT looked to add a third run in the fifth, but Raya Anderson threw out the runner at the plate to keep it a two-run game.

- Anderson tripled to right to lead off the seventh, and first year Caroline Langmeyer (Upper Arlington, Ohio) came in and got Jordyn Rubin to line out to first year Ava Ladd (Austin, Texas) who made an incredible play to tag Anderson out at third for a double play.  Langmeyer then got Shannon McManhon swinging to end the game.
