THE BASICS:

- Scores:
No. 16 MIT - 4, Endicott - 3

- Records: MIT (34-6), Endicott (36-8)

- Location: Cambridge, Mass. (Briggs Field)

- The Lead: The No. 16 MIT softball team is one win away from heading to the 2023 NCAA Softball Super Regionals as the Engineers held off a late Endicott rally and defeated the Gulls, 4-3 on Friday afternoon on Briggs Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-  Junior Mackenzie Relihan (Naperville, Ill.) doubled home classmate Katia Pendowski (Elk Grove Village, Ill.) for the first MIT run of the day in the second. Senior Haley Samuelsen (Houston, Texas) singled to right to plate Relihan with the second run of the inning, and junior Rylie Spiegel (Rumson, N.J.) came around to score the third MIT run.

- First year Caroline Langmeyer (Upper Arlington, Ohio) held the Gulls hitless until a one-out single in the fifth.

- Sophomore Mackenzie Bivin (San Diego, Calif.) doubled to lead off the sixth and scored on a double from classmate Mikayla Cable (Valrico, Calif.) to give MIT a four-run lead.

- Endicott mounted a comeback in the sixth as they scored three runs on three hits to get to within one. Langmeyer bounced back in the seventh and retired the Gulls in order to secure the 4-3 win.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

- With her complete game win, Langmeyer moved to 20-4 as she gave up three runs (two earned) on four hits. She walked three and struck out nine. She becomes just the third pitcher in program history to record 20 or more wins in a season.
