RACE: Women's Fleet Race National Championship

THE LEAD: The MIT women's sailing team finished eighth out of 18 teams at the ICSA Women's Fleet Race National Championships. The competition was shortened to only three days due to a lack of wind on the event's final day of competition.

DAYS ONE AND TWO:
- MIT finished day one in fifth place with 74 points.
- The 'A' division team of graduate student Dana Haig (Beach Haven, N.J.), sophomore Shayne Bersin (Port Washington, N.J.), and senior Grace Mao (Overland Park, Kan.) finished eighth with 50 points.
- Sophomore Lucy Brock (Austin, Texas), sophomore Brooke Schmelz (Monmouth Beach, N.J.), junior Jemma Schroder (Menlo Park, Calif.), and sophomore Samantha Karlson (Groton, Conn.) finished fourth in the 'B' Division with 24 points and posted four top-three finishes.
- Day two saw the Engineers jump up to third with 105 points to advance to the National Championship Finals.
- Haig, Bersin, Mao, and Schroder finished strong in the 'A' division with a third and fifth place finish to end the day's racing. Overall, they finished seventh with 58 points.
- Brock, Schmelz, Schroder, and Karlson helped the 'B' Division boat to a third-place finish with 47 points as they recorded four top-three finishes.

Championship
- After the opening day of the Championship, the Engineers were in eighth place with 185 points.
- Haig, Bersin, and Schroder placed 10th in the 'A' Division with one win and 96 points.
- The 'B' division team of Brock,  Schmelz, Mao, Karlson, and sophomore Mercedes Escandon (Brick, N.J.) totaled 89 points for seventh place finish as the team took two top-three finishes.
- The final day of racing could not be completed due to a lack of wind.
- Haig was named an All-American Skipper.
