- The Lead: At the 2023 New England Rowing Championship on Lake Quinsigamond, the MIT women's openweight crew team captured gold medals in the Varsity 8, while also earning bronze medals in the Varsity 4 event.

A LOOK INSIDE THE RACES:

- In the Varsity 8, the top-seeded Engineers earned the victory in Heat 1 by almost 10 seconds to advance to the Grand Final as the boat crossed in a time of 6:29.68. In the Grand Final, the Engineers finished in a time of 6:38.040 to pick up the victory by nearly 3.5 seconds ahead of Wellesley.

- In Heat 2 of the Varsity 4 competition, the Engineers earned the win by a 1.52-second margin over Merrimack to advance to the Grand Final in Lane 2. In the Grand Final, MIT took 10 seconds off the time from the heats, finishing in third place with a final time of 7:37.890.

- In the Second Varsity 8, MIT crossed in second in Heat 1 in a time of 6:55.630 and advanced to the Grand Final in the afternoon. In the 2V8 Grand Final, the Engineers trimmed nearly three seconds off their time from earlier in the day, en route to a fifth-place finish in 6:52.710.
