- The Lead: At the Purple Valley Classic on Saturday morning, the No. 3 ranked MIT men's cross country team finished second out of seven teams with a total of 33 points. No. 11 ranked Williams College captured the meet as the Ephs finished with 23 points.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- Graduate student
Lowell Hensgen (Raleigh, N.C.) led the way in fourth place with a time of 24:58 over the 8K course as he ran a pace of 5:02 per mile. Graduate student
Sam Acquaviva (Newburyport, Mass.) crossed in fifth at 25:04.7, followed by senior
Henry Hardart (Annapolis, Md.) in sixth with a time of 25:15.2.

Vedang Lad (Plainsboro, N.J.) finished seventh overall at 25:25.6, while sophomore
Jake Cobb (West Deptford, N.J.) rounded out the top five in 11th place with a time of 25:43.7.

Jacob Hansen (Bountiful, Utah) finished 12th overall at 25:45.1, while first-year
Yichen Sun (Chapel Hill, N.C.) ended in 13th place after crossing in 25:46.4.

- MIT returns to action on Saturday, October 7th as the Engineers head to the Pre-National Meet in Newville, Pa. The men's race begins at 11 a.m., followed by the women's race starting at Noon.
