- The Lead: The MIT men's soccer team took a 1-0 lead into the second half against No. 25 Tufts, however, the Jumbos scored four unanswered goals to take the 4-1 win on Wednesday night.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Senior
Aidan Hallinan (Carlsbad, Calif.) sent a pass into graduate student
Peter Novoa (Omaha, Neb.) who put a shot in the lower center of the net for the first score of the game at 7:41 in the first.
- Tufts responded with a goal from
Woovin Shin at 45:50 and took a 2-1 lead ten minutes later when
Daniel Yanez found the back of the net
.
- The Jumbos tacked on two more goals, including one on a penalty kick score, to seal the 4-1 win.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Tufts outshot MIT 23-10 and put eight shots on target. The Engineers put six shots on goal.
- The goal was the first of the season for Novoa who now has 15 in his career.
- Hallinan has recorded a point in all three games for MIT this year as he leads the team with two goals and five points.
- Senior
Lukas Hanson-Puffer made three saves and fell to 0-1-1 on the season. For Tufts,
Nikola Antic made five saves for the clean sheet win.
